TRACKING

River Valley Obedience has been hosting CKC "field" tracking tests for over 30 years, and CKC "urban" tracking tests since their inception in 2004.

The purpose of tracking tests is to demonstrate the dog's willingness to work with its handler under a variety of conditions and to follow a defined track, to discriminate scent, to locate and indicate articles.

There are 4 different test levels under Canadian Kennel Club rules:
Tracking Dog, Tracking Dog Excellent, Urban Tracking Dog and Urban Tracking Dog Excellent. When a dog has earned all 4 CKC titles, they are awarded the title of Tracking Champion.

At this time, RVO does not hold classes for tracking, but several club members have experience in this sport.

Below are videos of a club member's dog in training for an Urban TDX test.
